Ever wonder who is behind the day-to-day operations at Free Ride Equestrian? Meet Melanie, the Chief Operating Officer.
"I think one thing horses have taught me (especially with Olympia) is to really think outside of the box and that you are never done learning."
How did you get into horses?
I asked for a pony ride for my 7th birthday and have been riding ever since.
Mares or geldings?
I love a good mare! When you find that connection with them they really click in and its such a cool feeling!
What's your go-to early morning drink?
I love Caramel Frappuccinos! Or anything sweet!
How have horse's impacted your life?
Horses have always been a huge part of my life. I grew up doing the hunters and jumpers. My parents refused to buy me a horse because they thought I would grow out of it, so I always rode lesson horses. I went to college and studied Equine Administration. I got put in a dressage class because it fit my schedule better and I ended up loving it! I've been super lucky to ride with some amazing trainers and sit on some amazing horses.
I just purchased my first horse in 2024 (who was pregnant at the time!). S2 O'lympia is an 11 yr old Canadian Warmblood that has been a broodmare most of her life. I also have her 2025 colt- Lyzander T. Olympia and I compete in dressage and I hope to get my bronze medal with her!
What's your favorite part about working for FRE?
My favorite part about working for FRE is the opportunities it has given me. Last year I was given the opportunity of a lifetime to visit our manufacturer. It was such a cool experience to see how everything is made! I have always loved graphic design and it has been really fun to help develop new products. I also love when we are vendors at shows and hearing how much people love the brand. It's pretty amazing and I am proud to be a part of it!
What's your favorite piece at FRE? What do you like about it?
The Lux Hybrids! I am tall (6ft!) and they fit me so nicely. They are so comfortable that I practically live in them!
